The FTBC manufacturing facility is scheduled to be completed in 2024, with mass production of millions of units a month starting in 2025.
Founded in 1959, FUJI SPRINGS brings technical expertise and a significant Japanese market share for prismatic aluminum cell cases and cell covers. Toyota Tsusho America, Inc. (TAI), established in 1961, will utilize their global network in tandem with their robust sales and procurement capabilities to maximize the reach of FTBC.
FTBC will support the automotive battery supply chain and ensure a stable supply of prismatic aluminum cell cases & covers to further the expansion of electric vehicles. With a long-term vision of carbon neutrality, this joint venture will play a key role in supporting the demand and products that are necessary to implement sustainable transportation solutions.
As electric vehicles (EVs) become increasingly more mainstream, the demand for automotive batteries is continuously rising. While there are three main types of batteries–prismatic, cylindrical, and laminated (pouch)– U.S. battery manufacturers currently focus on cylindrical and laminated batteries. This left a large gap in the market for a dependable and experienced supplier who could make aluminum cases for prismatic batteries–until now.
FUJI SPRINGS CO., Inc. (FUJI SPRINGS) and Toyota Tsusho America, Inc. (TAI) saw the opportunity to satisfy this industry gap and entered into a joint venture, FUJIHATSU & TOYOTSU Battery Components, North Carolina LLC (FTBC). The creation of this merger means FTBC can manufacture and sell prismatic aluminum cell cases and cell covers with discharge valves to meet the increasing demand for automotive batteries of EVs like hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and battery electric vehicles (BEVs).

Hello everyone. I am Noriyuki Dan, CEO of FTBC.
FTBC is a brand-new company, established on July 3, 2023. With our team members’ dedication, we were able to build a framework of the company. In June 2024, our first equipment line was successfully installed, and in July of 2024, we started trial for mass production and began shipping our products to the customer. Our standard operations are scheduled to begin March 2025.

However, it is undoubtedly our team members who will master these technologies to pave the way to the future. Based on our management philosophy of “contributing to the future of the earth by pursuing customer, society, and employee satisfaction through a virtuous cycle of self-realization,” FTBC places emphasis on team member-centered management and wants to continue developing our company together with our team members.
By establishing a corporate culture that encourages “continuous self-realization”, we aim to become a company where all employees can be proud to work at FTBC. We also believe that by passing on the self-realization they have achieved by supporting FTBC to the next generation, we strive to create a continuous development.
